The true cost of chiropractic software, worked out
By Dr. Daniel Turner, DC · Reviewed September 2, 2026
The advertised price of practice software is rarely the invoice. The difference is arithmetic that vendors hope you skip. This page does the arithmetic, in dollars, using illustrative practice scenarios, so you can price any vendor honestly in ten minutes.
The per provider multiplier, in dollars
A per practitioner plan priced at $79 per month costs a solo doctor $948 per year. The same plan for a clinic with three doctors and two associates is $395 per month, which is $4,740 per year, before a single add on. Add an insurance billing module at $20 per practitioner and the five provider clinic pays another $1,200 per year for the privilege of billing insurance. Per provider pricing taxes the exact growth you are working toward, which is why the roster you plan to have in three years is the only roster to price against.
The text message meter, in dollars
For illustration, assume 3,000 billable messages after any included allowance, at 3 cents each. That costs $90 per month or $1,080 per year. These are example inputs, not a usage benchmark or a quoted rate. Use your actual volume and the vendor’s written terms when comparing plans.
The scribe minute meter, in dollars
For this illustration, assume an ambient scribe costs 20 cents per recorded minute. The math escalates quickly: a provider who records one hour of visits per day across 20 clinic days uses 1,200 minutes, which is $240 per month. Two hours per day is $480 per month, per provider, which is $5,760 per year, frequently more than the base subscription it rides on. Any scribe priced per minute deserves a written estimate at your real usage before it factors into a decision.
The annual commitment delta, in dollars
Compare the same plan under both terms. For illustration, $500 per month on monthly terms costs $6,000 per year. A $450 monthly equivalent under an annual commitment costs $5,400 per year, a $600 difference. Compare cancellation and renewal terms as well as the price; these amounts are examples, not vendor quotes.
A worked example: the $159 plan that costs $487
| Line | Monthly cost |
|---|---|
| Advertised base plan, two providers at $159 tier structure or per provider equivalent | $159 to $198 |
| Insurance billing add on | $40 to $60 |
| Texting at 3,000 messages, metered | $90 |
| Digital intake or forms module | $30 to $50 |
| Clearinghouse fees billed separately | $50 to $90 |
| Realistic invoice | $369 to $487 |
